Quattro targhe sono state dipinte per la porta di ogni camera. Sono state personalizzate per coordinarsi ai colori e allo stile dalla casa.
Four signs have been painted to add a special touch to the house. Each plaque bears the respective room name: kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, kid's bedroom. They have been personalized to match the house colors and style.

Sono tornata! - I'm back!

Rieccomi dopo venti giorni di assenza. Prima di tutto voglio ringraziare Paola, Giuliana ed Ago perché sono accorse in mio aiuto nel post precedente e Silvia, Marigio, Genny e Lydia per il loro supporto morale. Alla fine sia il suggerimento di Paola ed Ago di installare Firefox, che quello di Giuliana di installare Google Chrome erano esatti. Entrambi mi hanno risolto il problema.

Durante queste settimane ho lavorato parecchio ed Andrea ha avuto l'influenza gastro-intestinale, così sono stata molto occupata. Le prime settimane di giugno hanno anche riservato compleanni ed anniversari che in breve vi illustro.

During these weeks life has kept me busy in many matters: I was off line many days because of Internet Explorer problems, Andrea has had the stomach flu and I also worked a lot.

The first weeks of June have also shown two birthdays and one anniversary that I briefly illustrate.

Prima di tutto il 2 giugno era il compleanno di mia cugina Lydia che, dall’America, mi è sempre vicina. Non sono riuscita a farle gli auguri per tempo, quindi questo è per lei.

First of all, on June 2nd was my cousin Lydia birthday. "I did not have managed to do my wishes on the day so, this is for you, with all my love... I’ll write you soon"

Il 5 giugno ha portato il mio decimo anniversario di matrimonio. Andrea era nel pieno dell’influenza così è passato del tutto inosservato.

On June, 5th we had our tenth anniversary of marriage. Andrea was very sick that day so it has been spent entirely unnoticed.

Arriviamo al 10 giugno e a un nuovo compleanno, quello delle nostre cagnolette. Nina e Menta hanno festeggiato il loro 10° anno di età e noi il decimo anno di gioia con loro. Sono insieme dalla nascita e noi siamo stati molto fortunati ad averle nella nostra famiglia, sono una meraviglia che riempie la vita!

We arrive on June, 10th and a new birthday, the one of our dogs. Nina and Menta celebrated their 10 years of age and we mark the tenth year of joy with them. They have been together since their birth and we were very lucky to have them in our family since then, they fill of love our lifes!

Da ultimo ho raccolto l’invito di Valerie (Acormoon) di mostrare le mie mugs preferite. “Mug Monday” era l’idea ed io, collezionando mugs, non potevo non partecipare. Queste sono le mie preferite. La prima è stata acquistata durante il mio viaggio nel New England nel 2003. E’ la mug di una caffetteria dove abbiamo fatto una vera e sontuosa colazione all’americana. Ogni volta che la guardo non posso fare a meno di ricordare quei giorni meravigliosi che mi sono rimasti impressi nel cuore. La seconda è la riproduzione di un mio disegno. Racchiude in sé tante speranze e sogni, che solo una “mug” può contenere…

At last I joined the invitation of Valerie (Acornmoon) to show my favourite mugs. "Mug Monday" is the idea and these are my favourites. The first one was bought during my trip in New England in 2003. AIUTOOOOO problemi di visualizzazione blog

E' ormai più di una settimana che ho problemi nella visualizzazione dei blog, compreso questo . Spesso accade che appena tento di aprire la pagina compare una finestra con l'indicazione "impossibile visualizzare la pagina - operazione terminata" e la pagina si chiude, oppure la stessa non viene caricata correttamente ( ad esempio non riesco a vedere alcun post). Questo accade SOLO con blog creati con BLOGGER.com . Io utilizzo Internet Explorer 8 e al mio blog non ho aggiunto alcun tipo di gadget nuovo da almeno un paio di mesi. Capita la stessa cosa anche a qualcuna di voi??? Grazie per qualsiasi tipo di risposta in merito.

L'alfabeto dei "Bubi" - "Bubi" alphabet

Dopo "mamma" Andrea ha pronunciato la parola "bubi". Per lui il "bubi" era l'orsetto che stava sul letto di mia sorella. Non conosco il motivo per cui aveva deciso di battezzare così quel vecchio orso. Ogni volta che andava a casa dei miei, la prima cosa che voleva fare era vedere il bubi. Sono passati mesi da quei giorni e Andrea ha imparato tante altre parole; il bubi però è rimasto tale anzi, ormai chiama bubi tutti gli orsetti che vede. Allora mi sono detta perchè non realizzare un alfabeto per bimbi con un bubi per ogni lettera?? Questo che vi presento è il "bubi D". "D" di Davide, il bimbo che la mia migliore amica ha dato alla luce poche settimane fa. Abitiamo piuttosto distanti e finalmente oggi sono riuscita ad andare a trovarli. Il "bubi D" è stato il chiudi pacco dipinto con i colori abbinati alla cameretta di Davide. Un chiudi pacco un po' ingombrante, circa cm.20x25, però le cose che avevo messo da parte per il piccolo erano tante che, alla fine, era proprio della misura giusta! Nel caso foste interessate posso realizzare tutti i bubi dell'alfabeto con colori personalizzati. A disposizione anche in formato pattern con tutti i neretti.

After the word "mummy", my son Andrea told the word "bubi" (read "booby"). For him the "bubi" was the teddy bear on my sister's bed. I don't know why he started calling it in that way, in Italian teddy bear is "orsetto", not at all similar to the word "bubi". Every time he went to my partents' home the first thing he wanted to do was go and see the "bubi". Months have passed from those days and many other words have been learned but, he still likes a lot that word and now all the bears that he sees are called "bubi". Then I told myself why not make an alphabet for children with a "bubi" for each letter? I'm introducing the "D bubi". "D" is for Davide, my best friend's son born a few weeks ago. Finally today I managed to go and see her and the baby, since they do not live right next to me. The "D bubi" was the gift tag painted with the colours matching Davide's room. A gift tag a little bulky, about 8"x10", but the goodies that I had ready for him were so many that, at the end, it was just the right size! In case you're interested I can make all the "bubi" alphabet with custom colours. Also available the whole black and white alphabet pattern packet.

Torta di Maggio - May cake

L'ispirazione, nonchè la ricetta di base, è stata presa dal blog La dolcetteria. Stefania ha fornito un'idea diversa per una frolla molto speciale ed io non ho saputo resistere alla tentazione. Non scrivo la ricetta ma, vi mando direttamente al suo post, poichè l'ho copiata da lì. Vi indico invece le tre varianti che ho apportato. Prima variante: ho messo sul fondo della frolla, prima di procedere con mele e crema, quattro cucchiai di marmellata di more. In questo modo la frolla è cotta ben asciutta senza trattenere l'umido delle mele e della crema. La seconda variante è che ho usato solo due mele golden tagliate a fettine sottili. Le ho diposte a raggiera sopra la marmellata, senza spolverizzarle di zucchero, e su di esse ho distribuito la crema. La terza variante è stata la copertura fatta con tre cucchiai di corn flakes e sei amaretti frullati insieme per ottenere una grana fine. Ho guarnito con la restante pasta frolla. Inutile dirvi che è b.u.o.n.i.s.s.i.m.a.!!!

The inspiration, as well as the basic recipe, was taken from the blog "Dolcetteria". Stefania has provided a very special cake and I have not been able to resist the temptation. Here I translate her recipe adding the variations I've made.

Ingredients for the dough:

300 gr. (10 oz.) flour

100 gr. (about 3 1/2 oz.) granulated sugar

150 gr. (5 oz.) butter
2 egg yolks 

the grated peel of a lemon

1 pinch of salt

1 teaspoon of baking powder

With the electric mixer whisk the butter into small pieces with the sugar, add eggs, salt and lemon peel. Gradually add the flour sifted with baking powder, always working with the mixer. When the mixture begins to be grainy, give a fast worked by hand to mix everything better. Once the dough is ready, form a ball and place in refrigerator for at least half an hour.

Let's make pastry cream now with:

4 egg yolks

60 gr. (2 oz.) sugar

30 gr. (1 oz.) corn starch

500 ml. (1/2 litre) of milk

1 lemon peel

Bring to boil the milk with the lemon peel. In the meantime work with the electric whisks the egg yolks with sugar until you get a clear and soft compound. Add sifted starch and mix.

Filter with a strainer the milk to eliminate the lemon peel and add it to the eggs mix, stirring continually to prevent the formations of lumps. Bring to boil again, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Cook a few minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool.

To compose the cake you need also:

2 yellow apples

4 tablespoons of blackberry jam (or the one you prefer)

3 tablespoons of corn flakes + 6 amaretti bisquits finely ground together

Put two thirds of the dough (about half a centimeter high) at the bottom of a low round baking pan and make a dough ring all around it. Spread the jam. In this way the dough will bake well and dry without the retention of apple and cream moisture. Cut into thin slices the apples and distribuite them over the jam. Fill now with the cream. The topping is made by the mix of corn flakes and amaretti and the remaining dough. Bake in preheated oven at 350°F for about 40 - 45 minutes, until you see a golden surface. Enjoy!

Festa della Mamma - Mother's Day

Giusto per festeggiare la festa della mamma, mi è arrivata ieri una busta contenente il taccuino "Memoriae" offerto dalla Quo Vadis ai bloggers che ne fanno richiesta. I taccuini a disposizione sono 12, ciascuno con una copertina colorata diversa e un tema che personalizza le pagine interne. Io, senza esitazione, ho scelto il taccuino "I miei figli" così da poter annotare le tappe di crescita del mio Andrea. Devo ringraziare il Servizio Marketing per la celerità nell'invio poichè l'ho richiesto via mail giovedì e sabato mattina era già nella cassetta delle lettere!

To celebrate Mother's Day, yesterday I got in my mail box the "Memoriae" notebook. Quo Vadis Italy is giving it as a present to all bloggers who ask for it. I have chosen MY CHILDREN notebook to be able to write and cherish my little Andrea's important moments.

Una piccola tasca sul fondo del taccuino potrà contenere ricordi tangibili.

In this notebook, with its turquoise cover, there is a first part to write the most important moments, small anecdotes and useful info. The second part is ready for addresses and free notes.

Di nuovo cappelli - Hats again

Spesso mi sono trovata a decorare uno stesso oggetto in modi diversi... mi parte il trip e per un po' non vedo altro intorno a me! Ho un debole per i cappelli e questi di paglia sono stati una tentazione troppo forte per resistere. I miei pennelli, smaniosi di primavera, sono volati sopra i loro intrecci fini e così ecco...

Many times I have decorated the same item in different ways and for a while there was no other to paint around me! I have a weakness for hats and these straw ones were a temptation too strong to resist. My brushes flew, eager to Spring, on their thin weaves and so here there are...
